The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation (RMEF) is an international, nonprofit wildlife conservation organization whose mission is to ensure the future of elk and other wildlife and their habitat. Founded in 1984 and based in Missoula, Mont., RMEF has permanently protected more than 1,000 square miles of critical habitat, enhanced more than 4.7 million acres of wildlife habitat and invested more than $20 million in conservation education.

RMEF has generated millions of dollars to acquire and enhance elk and other wildlife habitat and to fund important wildlife research and conservation education programs. Budweiser helped ensure the success of RMEF's first landscape-scale project, the Book Cliffs initiative in Utah, which ultimately conserved nearly 18,000 acres for wildlife. As a Budweiser Outdoor Program grantee, RMEF receives annual financial support from Anheuser-Busch wholesalers and Budweiser.

At RMEF's 2007 Elk Camp, 27 members of RMEF's Pennsylvania chapter pooled their money to place the winning bid on a filly bred from world-famous Budweiser Clydesdales. Budweiser and RMEF teamed up to offer the 8-month-old filly, named Kindred, during the Elk Camp annual conference to help raise funds to support elk restoration work.
